This is the launch event of a report on Climate Change and the Cost of Capital in Developing Countries. Commissioned by UN Environment, this research investigates the relationship between climate vulnerability, sovereign credit profiles, and the cost of capital in developing countries. This collaborative research project with Imperial College Business School has been funded by the MAVA Foundation.
The event features an overview of the report from its lead authors, Charles Donovan (Imperial) and Ulrich Volz (SOAS), followed by a keynote speech by Simon Zadek, Special Advisor on Sustainable Finance at UN Environment and Visiting Professor and Senior Fellow at Singapore Management University, and a panel discussion.
Speakers on the panel include Sonia Medina (Executive Director at the Climate Children’s Investment Fund Foundation), Zoë Knight (Managing Director and Group Head at HSBC Centre of Sustainable Finance), Victor Murinde (AXA Professor in Global Finance at SOAS) and Michael Wilkins (Managing Director and Head of Sustainable Finance at S&P Global Ratings).
